Besoin d’aide (Help Wanted)

Now that we’re in our second year of life, ParisienSalon.com has become one of the most popular Paris destination sites on web. That means we need to be even better than we were in our first year … and we need some help to do that.

Parisien Salon is looking for help in two areas: writing and social media.

WRITERS

The only way Parisien Salon can be the best of the best is by offering fresh, relevant editorial content to our readers. So we’re looking for English-native writers who are ideally based in Paris to write articles that provide insider information in the following areas:

• The Arts (art exhibits, unique galleries, artists, artisans, etc.)
• Music (performers, music venues, etc.)
• Fashion (interviews with fashion designers, stylists, jewelry designers)
• Architecture
• Food & Wine
• Special / unique events
• Things to do in Paris

How much do we pay for these articles? Right now, we don’t offer money (because we’re not making any, ourselves … yet). But we do offer links back to your own site. So if you’re trying to build a business in Paris, have a service to offer or want to draw people back to your blog, we link in the byline and in the author bio at the end of the article. We should also tell you that all of our content is syndicated in several highly visible places: LonelyPlanet.com (Paris blogs), Travel Onion, and several Paris-based blogs pick up our content. That means more link-backs for you.

Please note that if you do have a business or service that you want to promote, we’re happy to help. But articles are for pure editorial content only. No sales information and self-promotional content will be accepted.

Also, if you’re just starting out as a writer and want to build up your portfolio, this is the place to do it. Parisien Salon is one of the top-ranked Paris websites on the web. We’re a Lonely Planet favorite blog for Paris, and a Travel Onion favorite blog, too. We’re in discussions with some other (big) names out there, too.)

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

Here’s a great opportunity for a college student or recent grad to get some valuable experience to put on your resume.

Your job:

• Represent Parisien Salon online by interacting with our readers and spreading the love. You’ll do this mainly through Twitter and Facebook.
• Pull together content for our weekly eNewsletter that goes out to a growing list of subscribers.
• Identify and implement any promotional opportunities.
• Identify and implement new strategies to increase “fans” on our Facebook page (we know, “fans” is such a yesterday term).
• Promote our monthly “Paris in Pictures” photo contest to encourage submissions, and find providers to contribute prizes.
• Identify and implement SEO strategies to increase website traffic via keywords, link exchange, etc.

This internship is an unpaid position requiring fifteen hours per week (ideally three hours/day). We do offer letters of recommendation and can work with you on obtaining credit at your college/university.

Applicants must have their own computers and Internet connection, have excellent written/verbal skills, and possess a strong understanding/proficiency is social media. They should also have familiarity of and a passion for Paris and travel, be a self-starter and a willingness to contribute to the growth of an exciting enterprise.
