Story Edited by Sophie DelonGetting around Paris at any time of night is even easier these days. If you fancy going from a restaurant to a club, on a moon-lit walk or you just need to get back to your hotel, the Paris City Council has developed a range of practical transport solutions over the last few years to ensure everyone can get around the capital at night.
If you’re planning on taking the last metro, it’s now possible to take the capital’s underground system until 2.15 in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as the eve of public holidays. A network of night buses, Noctilien, has also been set up to transport passengers from one end of the city to the other from 12.30 am to 5.30 am. With more than 45 bus routes to choose from, seven days a week, this mode of transport is easy and pleasant to use!
For a romantic ride along the banks of the Seine or to get home at a gentle pace (while protecting the environment), the city’s Vélib bicycle hire service lets you hire a bicycle seven days a week, 24 hours a day. For optimal ease of use, bicycle stations for renting and returning bicycles are spaced 300 metres apart and located all across Paris, from the banks of the Seine to the slopes of the Butte de Montmartre.
Of course, it’s also possible to call one of 16,400 taxis in Paris, wherever and whenever you want. At any time of day or night, you’re invited to order a taxi using one of the city’s official terminals with a dedicated number made available by the Paris City Council.
